Bloomberg TV: Immigration Reform Hits Silicon Valley
This Bloomberg video talks about immigration in the United States. It touches on how high-skilled immigrants pay top level fees for American universities, but find it hard to stay in the country post-education.
Robert Litan goes on to explain that immigrants are disproportionately entrepreneurs (out of all American entrepreneurs they have a dominant %) and that they do not necessarily replace American graduates post-university, but actually go on to become job-creators as they build up their businesses; one of his examples being Google’s Sergey Brin (wiki-link) who is natively Russian.
It touches on a sensitive issue of immigration and argues that the USA could be suffering from a decline in highly-skilled labour being about to live in America.
